CPR Chess Receives MLK Service Award19-Jul-2018
On Tuesday, July 10, 2018, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 2018 Youth Summit recognized our present and past volunteers of the CPR Chess Village. We were honored to receive The MLK Service Award acknowledging our service and commitment to Central Arkansas youth through chess and mentorship.
In addition each child, parent and volunteer present from our club was presented with the MLK medal. We also received a monetary donation to our chess club.
Thank you DuShun Scarbrough, Executive Director of the MLK Commission, and Diana Tippen Shelton for providing our club with this recognition and letting us share through workshops with the children how chess can help them succeed in school and in life.
Special thanks to all of our children and parents that showed up.
Special thanks to Tony Davis, 9 time Arkansas State Chess Champion, Linda Lovett, Jovonda Deshun Bonton, Shirley Lewis. Candice Rice and Phillip Jarmon all who serve as awesome and committed volunteers at our Chess Club for coming together to facilitate two great workshops for 50 plus children.
To God be the Glory!!!
